Holiday accommodation with history and comfort combined
The Smokery House is approached by a drive passed the traditional 16C black and white timbered farmhouse. It has its own private courtyard parking area for three cars.
Entering through a bright hallway, there is the convenience of a cloakroom with toilet and washbasin, as well as a place to hang your coats.
Off the hall is a large lounge/diner with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace with log effect fire. The room is double aspect with seating and a dining table to accommodate six guests.
There is a widescreen TV with about 30 channels, as well as DVD and video player. A selection of DVDs and videos is supplied. A sound system is also provided for your CDs. There is a range of games available for your enjoyment, along with a selection of books, including many about the scenery and history of the area.
If you want a little more peace, there's a small conservatory, where a couple can ease their time in the armchairs supplied.
The kitchen overlooks the garden and has a full range of fitted cupboards and a breakfast table. It is well equipped for all your needs, whether you wish to eat in or prepare to take food on your travels. There is a built-in electric oven and gas hob along with a fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and microwave.
Up the dogleg staircase from the hall, you pass pictures of local scenes as they were in yesteryear, as well as some Shakespeare memorabilia. Off the wide landing are three bedrooms, one a large double with en suite shower room, a second double and the third, a twin. These share a bathroom, which also has a shower. Both en suite and bathroom have shaver points. Hand and bath towels are supplied.
All the bedrooms have mirrors and ample wardrobe and cupboard space. Bed linen, anti-allergenic pillows and large duvets are supplied. Blankets are also available. The bed linen is changed every week for those staying longer.
Outside is a large patio equipped with table, chairs and parasol. A BBQ can be supplied on request. The garden is enclosed and laid to lawn. At the end are chairs to take in the sunset ( unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the weather as much as we would like to ). You might also catch the sight and sound of horses as there is a racing stables in the fields beyond.
For walkers and cyclists, there is a drying area in the smokery for clothes and boots. Bikes can also be kept there securely under cover.
You'll have every benefit of being in the countryside,
but with all the amenities close at hand.
